Broker Action Coalition unveils inaugural board, leadership councils

The Broker Action Coalition (BAC) has announced its inaugural board of directors and specialized leadership councils, signaling the launch of its independent nonprofit operations.

The newly formed board brings together 10 voting members, comprising a balanced mix of industry experts. This includes four lenders and four brokers, with BAC’s executive leadership completing the group.

The brokers joining the board are Elena Boland of Wholesale Mortgage Services, Joseph Dionne of appli Home Loans, Major Singleton of Edge Home Finance, and Daniel Iskander of West Capital Lending.

As for the lender side, BAC has tapped Eddy Perez of EPM, Phil Shoemaker of The Loan Store, Chris Vinson of Windsor Mortgage, and Kevin Peranio of PRMG, Inc.

Rounding out the board are BAC’s co-founders, Brendan McKay and Katie Sweeney, who also serve as chief advocacy officer and chief executive officer, respectively.

BAC was formed as an advocacy channel for independent mortgage brokers and homebuyers across the US.

In a statement, Sweeney emphasized the organization’s commitment to ensuring government policies at the state and federal level align with the industry’s best interests.

“This board of leaders from across the industry, combined with BAC’s governance structure, reflects our commitment to fulfilling BAC’s essential mission which is engaging on policy issues that will protect and enhance opportunities for the independent brokerage community and consumers alike,” Sweeney said.

Non-voting roles also announced

In addition to announcing its new board, BAC has also established seven non-voting roles to support its advocacy efforts, including vendor advisories and leadership councils targeting specific consumer groups.

The newly appointed chairs for BAC’s leadership councils are as follows:

  • Veteran homeownership: Gay Veale, mortgage loan originator at Epoch Lending
  • Black homeownership: Whitley Cooper, mortgage broker from Advocate Home
  • Hispanic homeownership: Amorette Hernandez from CMS Mortgage Solutions
  • Government affairs, federal legislation: Jerry Robinson

A chair for state legislative advocacy efforts will also be announced in the coming weeks, according to a release.

Meanwhile, the three vendor advisories are Brian Vieaux, president and COO of FinLocker, Sam Parker owner of My Credit Guy, and Sofia Rossato, president and general manager of Floify.
