New York Mortgage Trust appoints new president

New York Mortgage Trust (NYMT) has appointed Nicholas Mah as president, effective Jan. 1, 2023.

Elected by the company’s board of directors, Mah was promoted from managing director to president and will report to chief executive Jason Serrano. Mah joined NYMT in July 2018 and was responsible for portfolio management of mortgage securities and whole loans.

Before NYMT, Mah was a portfolio manager and managing director at Oak Hill Advisors, where he was one of the founding members of the firm’s mortgage business. Prior to that, he worked as a senior investment analyst at The Blackstone Group and Fortress Investment Group.

“I am pleased to announce Nick’s promotion to president,” said Serrano. “Nick has played a key role over the years in his role as managing director and is a trusted figure within the company. I am confident that Nick will provide invaluable leadership and will continue to strengthen our position as a leader in the hybrid mortgage REIT sector.”

“I am honored to take on my new role as president of NYMT,” Mah said. “I am excited to continue to work alongside our talented team and business partners to guide the company towards continued success over the long term.”

New York Mortgage Trust is an internally managed REIT that acquires, invests, finances, and manages residential mortgage assets.
