myCUmortgage names new president

Credit union mortgage service provider myCUmortgage has named Ben Rempe (pictured) as its new president, effective June 3.

In this new chapter, Rempe will spearhead efforts to enhance the credit union service organization’s (CUSO) services and collaborate with credit union partners to drive growth in their mortgage businesses. He will also oversee myCUmortgage’s suite of mortgage solutions for nearly 200 credit union partners nationwide.

Rempe takes over the reins from interim president Paul Sutor, who will continue in his role as vice president of risk management. His appointment comes after an extensive national search for a new president. The selection committee sought a candidate with a strategic and visionary mindset and an array of skill sets, experience and traits needed to grow the company to its next stage, it stated.

“[This includes] a strategic and visionary mindset; a strong connection to credit unions and their culture; CUSO experience; a strong sales and growth mentality with connections in the credit union world; outstanding leadership skills; and a proven track record of getting things done,” Tim Mislansky, chairman of the myCUmortgage board of managers, said in the company’s media release.

Mislansky said Rempe checked all the boxes.

Rempe joins myCUmortgage after serving as senior vice president of credit unions at National Cooperative Bank. Prior to that, he worked at a fintech startup that rapidly grew to serve over 300 credit unions, employed 300+ people and raised $11.5 million in capital. His previous roles also include building mortgage warehouse lending and credit card portfolio solutions for credit unions at TMG Financial Solutions.

“Since 2012, I have been partnering with myCUmortgage and Wright-Patt Credit Union. From the onset, I have encountered visionaries laser-focused on making homeownership affordable and available to credit union members,” said Rempe. “This focus manifests itself through partnerships with credit unions offering best-in-class mortgage products to their members with the pricing and community focus that credit union members expect and deserve.

“I know that by leading with focus and empathy, myCUmortgage is poised to be the premier mortgage services provider for credit unions, and I cannot wait to begin this journey.”
