MBA welcomes new board members, names new chairman

The Mortgage Bankers Association has elected new leaders at the helm of its board of directors and other housing committees.

The trade association has announced that Matt Rocco will take over as chairman, succeeding Kristy Fercho. Rocco is the CEO of Grandbridge Real Estate Capital, a Truist Bank subsidiary, and is also an active member of MBA’s Commercial Real Estate Finance Board of Governors (COMBOG).

Mortgage industry veterans Mark Jones, head of Amerifirst Home Mortgage, and Laura Escobar, president of Lennar Mortgage, have been named chairman-elect and vice chair, respectively.

“It is an honor and a privilege to represent the real estate finance industry as the next chairman for the MBA,” Rocco said. “I look forward to working with Mark Jones and Laura Escobar on important issues facing our industry, including the higher interest rate environment, housing affordability for homeowners and renters, and closing the racial homeownership gap. I am committed to strengthening MBA’s affordable housing initiatives and identifying key solutions that will help communities across the country have access to equitable housing.”
