Company is focused on becoming a leader in affordable housing finance, CEO says
NewPoint Real Estate Capital has tapped Bryan Dickson and Karen Kim as managing directors of affordable originations as part of its efforts to build an affordable housing finance platform.
Dickson and Kim will oversee NewPoint’s agency and proprietary affordable housing lending division. In addition, they will work with the product and underwriting teams dedicated to serving the affordable housing community.
“We are intensely focused on NewPoint becoming a leading multifamily lender. In today’s market, that means becoming a leader in affordable housing finance,” said NewPoint CEO David Brickman. “Having Bryan and Karen join our team immediately accelerates our mission. They both bring to NewPoint a wealth of experience, knowledge, and have a deep commitment to affordable housing, and exemplify the type of outstanding sector-specific professionals that we are bringing together.”
Dickson has more than 20 years of lending and underwriting experience in the affordable housing market. Before joining NewPoint, he led Citi Community Capital’s affordable housing debt origination and investment banking in the Mid-Atlantic and throughout the country as regional director. Prior to that, Dickson served as a producer at Freddie Mac’s Targeted Affordable Housing Sales and Investments group.
Meanwhile, Kim has spent the past 10 years working with various firms providing custom loan programs for affordable and conventional housing developments. Most recently, she worked as a relationship manager at Greystone.
Dickson commented: “I have been committed, throughout my career, to the mission of providing high-quality, affordable rental housing to those in need. I’m inspired to join David and NewPoint and contribute to bringing change to the industry through NewPoint’s innovative products and lending solutions.”
“I am excited about NewPoint’s vision and the platform the company is building. I have been so impressed with the leadership and the culture and look forward to working with our team to expand the influence of NewPoint in the affordable housing sector,” Kim said.
