Why you might want to take the NMLS stand-alone test THIS WEEK

If you haven’t already taken the NMLS Stand Alone Uniform State Test, you might want to carve out some time soon

If you haven’t already taken the NMLS Stand Alone Uniform State Test, you might want to carve out some time soon, according to Impact Mortgage Advocacy and Advisory Group’s Bill Kidwell.

According to the NMLS, you have 180 days to sit for the test as long as you’ve registered by March 31.

“If you schedule your test for after 3/31/14 and you fail, you will have to take the full 125 question UST if at some future date you need licensing in one of the states that accepts the new tests,” Kidwell wrote.

So if you’re worried about your performance on the test, you might want to consider finding the time to take it on or before March 31.

To register for the Stand Alone UST, which you are required to do prior to scheduling the test, go to http://mortgage.nationwidelicensingsystem.org/licensees/resources/LicenseeResources/Test-Enrollments-Individual-Quick-Guide.pdf and follow the instructions. To find out if there is a seat available near you before March 1, go to https://securereg3.prometric.com/siteselection.aspx#0054.
