loanDepot expands mortgage business to Hawaii

Mortgage lender loanDepot has announced its expansion to the Hawaii market with the opening of two retail locations on Oahu and Maui.

The company tapped Jason Martinson to lead loanDepot’s Hawaii retail sales operations. Over the past two decades, he held managerial positions at Homebridge Financial, HomeStreet Bank, and Central Pacific Bank in Hawaii. Currently, Martinson serves as president of the Mortgage Bankers Association of Hawaii and is a board member of the Hawaii Homeownership Land Trust and Nanakuli Housing Corporation.

Mortgage vet Dawn Naya will oversee the Honolulu retail location. She has worked in Hawaii’s mortgage industry for the past 26 years. Most recently, Naya served as area sales manager at HomeStreet Bank.

loanDepot also hired Kim Kawachi as loan consultant for the Maui retail location. With 16 years of mortgage lending experience, she was a top-producing loan consultant at HomeStreet Bank and Wells Fargo in Maui before joining loanDepot.

"We are very excited to have such amazing talent join loanDepot's team,” said Alec Hanson, senior vice president of production at loanDepot. “Together, they will lead the charge in deepening our relationship with Hawaii's home buyers and owners, and help guide the future of real estate lending for the Hawaii communities.”

The firm is still in the process of recruiting loan consultants for the two new retail locations.

"Thanks to the vision and direction of [CEO Anthony] Hsieh, loanDepot is setting the pace for the nonbank lending community," said John Bianchi, executive vice president and national production manager at loanDepot. "We see tremendous growth opportunity in Hawaii, and this expansion is just the beginning of what we believe will be a significant investment in the Island communities."
