Rick Thornberry, former CEO and chairman of NexSpring Group, LLC, has been named as the new CEO of Radian, according to a news release.

Thornberry brings 30 years of experience to the job. He was most recently the chairman and CEO of NexSpring Group, a mortgage advisory company he co-founded in 2006. Before that, he co-founded Nexstar Financial Corporation and served as its president and CEO; he also worked as the president and CEO of Citicorp Mortgage Inc.

“I am honored and excited to guide Radian through its next phase of growth,” Thornberry said. “The company is a leader in both the mortgage insurance and mortgage and real estate services markets, and I look forward to working with the dedicated and talented teams at Radian and Clayton to continue to deliver long-term value for our stakeholders, while promoting and preserving the tradition of homeownership.”

Thornberry’s appointment will be effective on March 6. He will replace retiring CEO S.A. Ibrahim.

“It has been a privilege to serve as Radian’s CEO over the past twelve years,” Ibrahim said. “With the outstanding work of our entire team, Radian is stronger than ever before in its history and I believe that the company’s best years lie ahead. I look forward to assisting Rick through the transition and have every confidence that Radian will continue to lead the way as the housing finance industry evolves and grows.”.
