These are America's 10 best places to live

Real estate agents and mortgage brokers in ten US cities may see increased interest after they were named the best in the country.

US News & World Report has ranked the country's 125 largest metropolitan areas based on affordability, job prospects and quality of life.

It puts Austin, TX at the top for the second year in a row. Colorado Springs, Colorado jumped 9 spots this year on the strength of its booming job market and high quality of life to take second place from another of the state’s cities, Denver, which slipped to third.

“U.S. News created the Best Places to Live to highlight areas across the country that have the characteristics residents are looking for, including steady job growth and affordability. The top-ranked places are areas where citizens can feel the most fulfilled socially, physically and financially," explained Kim Castro, executive editor at U.S. News.

The top 10 were:

  1. Austin, TX
  2. Colorado Springs, CO
  3. Denver, CO
  4. Des Moines, IA
  5. Fayetteville, AR
  6. Portland, OR
