MBA adds new VP of legislative affairs to lobbying team

The Mortgage Bankers Association has named George Rogers (pictured) as vice president of legislative affairs.

Rogers, a seasoned government affairs executive and attorney, will advocate on behalf of MBA’s legislative and policy priorities on Capitol Hill, primarily focusing on Republican Senate members.

He joined MBA from Republic Consulting, a government relations and lobbying firm he co-founded in 2019. Before that, Rogers spent five years at Wexler & Walker, where he most recently served as CEO. In 2017, Roger helped oversee Senate confirmation strategies as part of the Presidential Transition Team and served as policy advisor and counsel for former Rep. John Boehner (R-OH) during his time as Speaker of the House and House Minority Leader.

Additionally, Rogers was a member and the Official Proceedings Script Team Leader of the Republican National Convention from 2008 to 2016 and held various leadership counsel roles for the House Oversight and Accountability Committee and former Senator Richard Lugar (R-IN).

“George is an accomplished leader with a proven track record of developing and executing successful public policy advocacy campaigns both on behalf of clients and during his time providing counsel to a broad range of leaders on Capitol Hill,” Bill Killmer, chief lobbyist and senior vice president of legislative and political affairs at the MBA, said in a news release. “I am confident his well-established network of relationships – and thorough knowledge of financial services and housing issues – will help lead to successful outcomes for MBA and its members. I am excited to have him on our lobbying team, joining our deep legislative bench alongside vice presidents Alden Knowlton and Ethan Saxon.”
