Gateway First Bank has announced the appointment of John Kim (pictured) as chief financial officer.

Kim has been the company’s chief investment officer since 2020, responsible for all of Gateway’s capital markets and investment-related activities, including developing and executing investment, funding, secondary marketing strategies, servicing, and treasury operations.

In his new role, the executive will oversee Gateway’s finance and accounting functions, including financial reporting, accounting operations, budgeting and forecasting, funding, deposit operations, and asset liability management. Kim will also serve as the chief financial officer for the newly created Gateway Servco, which is under Gateway First Bancorp.

“Gateway is extremely fortunate to have someone of John’s caliber and financial expertise already a part of Gateway’s executive team,” said Gateway CEO Scott Gesell. “He has easily stepped into another role without missing a beat, and I’m excited to continue to work alongside him.”

With nearly three decades of financial industry experience, Kim joined Gateway from Ocwen Mortgage, where he most recently served as president. Prior to that, he managed capital markets and investment departments for Morgan Stanley’s US residential unit. Kim also spent two years working with the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) early in his career.
