AIME names new CEO

Executive to take up role at start of April

AIME names new CEO

The Association of Independent Mortgage Experts (AIME) has announced Jonathon Haddad (pictured) as its new chairman and CEO, with the executive set to replace the departing Katie Sweeney on April 1.

The move, which follows last week’s announcement that Sweeney will be migrating to a full-time chief executive officer role with the Broker Action Coalition (BAC), will see Haddad oversee initiatives including a strong focus on retail to wholesale originator recruitment, enhanced support for wholesale brokerages, and implementation of pro-broker awareness within the community and beyond.

Haddad’s 10-year career in the mortgage industry began with a stint in the retail channel with Quicken Loans, where he served in roles including senior director of mortgage banking and regional vice president before a switch to the broker channel in 2020 with Next Door Lending.

Having served as Next Door’s president since June 2022, Haddad described himself as “honored” to step into the CEO role at AIME, after “[seeing] firsthand the strength and potential of the broker community.

“My goal is to further enhance AIME’s commitment to supporting mortgage brokers and fostering their growth and success in the industry,” he said.

Haddad underlined a bright future for the independent broker profession in the US. “I want to create an environment where brokers thrive, fostering growth and success for all participants in the wholesale channel,” he said. “I’ve seen both sides of our industry, and I can wholeheartedly say that the future of mortgage is with independent brokers.

“I made the decision to put homebuyers first when I moved into the wholesale world, and now, I’m doubling down on my commitment to them and the entire broker community.”

AIME president Marc Summers said the appointment would allow the association to continue building momentum and further its growth, while Mat Ishbia – president and CEO of United Wholesale Mortgage (UWM), AIME’s title sponsor – also welcomed the news.

“I look forward to seeing Jonathon build upon the strong foundation AIME has today and do great things to support the broker community and educate borrowers that the broker channel is the best choice for them,” Ishbia said.

Sweeney said the continuing AIME-BAC partnership was “crucial” and that a collaborative focus on shared goals could “achieve great things for our channel.”
