Thomas J. McInerney has been president, CEO and a director since January 2013. In 2018, the Committee for Economic Development recognised him with a Leadership in the Nation's Interest Award. Before joining Genworth, McInerney served as a senior advisor to the Boston Consulting Group from June 2011 to December 2012, providing consulting and advisory services to leading insurance and financial services companies in the United States and Canada. From October 2009 to December 2010, he was a member of ING Groep’s Management Board for Insurance, where he was the COO of ING’s insurance and investment management business worldwide. Prior to that, he served in a variety of senior roles with ING Groep NV after serving in many leadership positions with Aetna, where he began his career as an insurance underwriter in 1978. McInerney is a member of the American Council of Life Insurers and serves, and has served on its CEO steering committees and board. McInerney received a BA in Economics from Colgate University and an MBA from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth College and serves on Tuck's Board of Advisors.
