These are the states that Americans plan to move to

Around 12% of Americans are planning to move to another state and it seems the South is the top destination.

According to an analysis from LendingTree of more than 2 million purchase mortgage requests made through its platform from January-mid November 2018, Florida was the top new destination for 15 of the 50 states.

Of all purchase mortgage requests during the study's period, 9.1% were for Florida, rising to 12.4% for out-of-state movers.

Texans are keen to stay where they are with 93.4% of mortgage requests from the Lone Star State for properties within the state, the highest share among all 50 states.

Conversely, Alaska has the highest share of people wanting to move state with just 75.2% wanting to remain.

When adjusted for population size though, South Carolina beats Florida as the most popular destination for out-of-state movers.

The study reveals that most people looking to move out of state don’t want to go far. More than half of the most popular new destination states border the current state.
