Thriving RCN Capital in hiring surge

Leading private lender RCN Capital has launched a new recruitment drive to attract the best and brightest in the mortgage industry in response to the company’s rapid growth.

In February, RCN Capital, which specializes in new construction, fix and flip, and rental financing for investors, reached a new milestone when it surpassed $2 billion in originations.

The firm’s chief marketing officer, Erica LaCentra, said the real estate investment space was “booming”, adding that demand for financing single-family rentals and new construction projects was “the highest it had been in the company’s history.”

In response, she said the company was searching for driven professionals eager to start a career in real estate finance and who fit RCN Capital’s unique corporate culture.

The company takes pride in its mentoring philosophy, which is aimed at creating a team-oriented, growth-focused environment. It’s an approach that has paid dividends over the years, resulting in a string of employment awards in the industry, all of which illustrate RCN Capital’s envious track record as a top employer.

Key to that success has been the company’s ability to retain an aura of a much smaller firm, as stated by staff accountant, Sarah Dunphy Acevedo.

“I’ve had the privilege of working at RCN Capital for quite a few years now, and amid its growth it has managed to keep that RCN family feel. The best part of RCN are the people – they are positive and engaging, and that helps to encourage the entire team,” she said.

The company is mostly looking to add resources to its rental financing, processing and construction programs.

Joe Bordonaro, RCN Capital’s Loan Processing Manager, said he was looking for specific attributes in a candidate.

“Being able to multitask and having good time-management skills is essential as we’re working on pipelines of 125 to 200 plus loans, day to day,” said Bolsonaro, who has seen the workforce in his department increase fourfold in just over three years.

“I like to refer to us as the worker bees. Our sales team is bringing in the deals, and we as the processors are working directly with the client to obtain all of the documentation needed for them,” he added.

Since RCN Capital’s inception in 2010, the firm has originated more than 10,000 loans and is currently on track to exceed $1.1 billion in originations this year. The firm has also been ranked as one of the fastest-growing private companies in the New York City metro region by the Inc. 5000.
