OJO Labs snags mellohome CEO Chris Heller

Chris Heller, former chief executive officer of loanDepot’s proprietary digital lending platform mellohome, has stepped down from his position to join real estate technology startup OJO Labs as chief real estate officer (CREO).

Heller’s new responsibilities as CREO include “shaping strategies, creating a cohesive structure between real estate professionals and OJO, and accelerating adoption in the industry.” In 2018, he served as a board member of OJO Labs when the firm agreed to make loanDepot its mortgage provider.

Through the partnership, OJO integrated its AI conversational assistance platform with loanDepot’s digital lending platform to give homebuyers access to real estate and mortgage information and assist them through the digital process.

Before OJO, Heller was the CEO of residential real estate brokerage Keller Williams, where he enhanced the company’s technology strategy.

“OJO was the first company to come into the real estate industry and drive the innovation of an AI assistant for the benefit of consumers and agents alike,” Heller said. “Since meeting the OJO team several years ago, I have seen them combine vision, operational excellence, creativity, and extremely talented leadership to bring an important and valuable product to market. The foundation is assembled for us to continue building one of the more significant companies in the real estate industry.”
