A group of HSBC bankers were fired for posting a mock ISIS execution video to popular social media app, Instagram.
This one should be filed under “things you should never do, especially while at work.”
Six HSBC bankers in the United Kingdom were fired after posting a video of a mock execution of one of their colleagues.
The balaclava-clad employees referred to the stunt as a “team building exercise.” One of the pranksters is seen in the video yelling “Allah Akbar,” while five men – one wielding a coat hanger as a knife -- stand over a sixth in the mock beheading.
HSBC was swift to take action.
“We do not tolerate inappropriate behaviour. As soon as The Sun brought this video to our attention we took the decision to sack the individuals involved,” a spokesperson told U.K.-based publication, The Sun. “This is an abhorrent video and HSBC would like to apologise for any offence.”
Stateside, HSBC was recently under fire for failing to meet regulator demands regarding mortgage servicing tests.
“We’re not satisfied with where they are at this point in time,” Morris Morgan, deputy comptroller for large banks, recently said during a conference call.
Regulators said the banks were not quick enough to abide by their guidelines.
As a result of the failed grades, Wells Fargo and HSBC have been banned from acquiring additional mortgage servicing rights.
