The expected growth in voice-activated services such as Siri and Alexa has led global real estate firm Coldwell Banker to launch a new platform.

With a recent YouGov survey showing that consumers expect voice services to be mainstream within a decade, many businesses are adapting their information and customer service operations to take advantage.

Coldwell Banker’s own research found that 72% of their customers want voice control and this led to it creating a service to turn homes into ‘smart homes’ to control lighting, temperature, etc.

The firm’s latest innovation is on Amazon.com’s Echo and Echo Dot ‘smart-speakers’ where users ask ‘Alexa’ to perform functions or find information.

Potential buyers will be able to ask Alexa for a 1 minute description of selected properties using the real estate firm’s function, known as a skill.

“The Home of the Week skill provides agents with a new and modern way to showcase their most prominent listings. Not only does it provide users with a look into the most luxurious homes, the skill also connects users to their local Coldwell Banker office, opening a new line of contact between potential clients and agents,” explained – Jade Mills, global luxury ambassador and estates director for Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage in Beverly Hills, CA.

One of Mill’s listings is the first to use the new service. It’s 1006 Laurel Way in Beverly Hills, listed for $34.9 million.

Coldwell Banker already offers its Home of the Week as a video series.
