Wells Fargo has tapped Eileen Fitzgerald as head of the company’s housing affordability philanthropy efforts, effective September 30.
In her new role, Fitzgerald will lead the development and implementation of strategies focused on strengthening housing affordability in the country. Additionally, she will spearhead housing affordability grant-making and collaborative efforts with nonprofits.
Before joining Wells Fargo, Fitzgerald served as chief executive officer and chief operating officer of NeighborWorks America. She worked at the Fannie Mae Foundation prior to that and was chief investment officer for single family at the AFL-CIO Housing Investment Trust.
“America can’t afford unaffordable housing,” said Wells Fargo Foundation President Brandee McHale. “Wells Fargo is committed to addressing the full spectrum of housing issues. With Eileen at the helm, I am confident we will move quickly to further develop solutions to challenges ranging from homelessness to rental housing to homeownership — all with a goal of unlocking more housing options for those in need.”
