MBA adds new associate VP of legislative affairs

The Mortgage Bankers Association (MBA) has announced the addition of Ethan Saxon to its leadership team as associate vice president of legislative affairs.

In his new role, Saxon will focus on advocating the association's legislative and policy priorities to the Democratic members of the US Senate on Capitol Hill, where he spent the majority of his career.

"Ethan's extensive career on Capitol Hill and experience in public policy make him the ideal individual to join MBA's legislative and political affairs team. Our members will benefit from his experience, tenacity, and knowledge of the legislative process," said Robert Broeksmit, president and chief executive officer of MBA.

In his time in Capitol Hill, Saxon served as chief of staff for Rep. Mike Sherrill (D-N.J.) and as deputy chief of staff for Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.). He was also on congressional staff for Reps. Madeleine Bordallo (D-Guam) and Jim Maloney (D-Conn.).

Additionally, Saxon has held positions at R&R Partners, Gallatin Public Affairs, the Commission on the National Guard and Reserves, and the Defense Base Closure and Realignment Commission.

"Throughout his career, Ethan has worked on a variety of complex issues with numerous members of Congress," said Bill Killmer, chief lobbyist and senior vice president of legislative and political affairs at MBA. "I am confident he will be a great addition to our team."
