What's next for the housing market?

AFR to host housing market discussion at Tampa Bay Downs

American Financial Resources (AFR) is set to hold an event focused on the housing market and the economic outlook, at Tampa Bay Downs. The gathering, titled Off to the Races Pt. 2, will feature a guest speaker addressing local and national economic trends and interest rate forecasts for 2025.

The event will begin at 11:30am with a scheduled speaker session running until noon. Attendees will gain insights into the housing sector before the first scheduled horse race at 12:15pm. Lunch will be provided from 12:00pm to 3:00pm, with the event expected to conclude at 5:00pm.

In a Press release, AFR encourages participants to bring referral partners to the discussion, which will take place in the Skye Lounge on the third floor of the venue. Complimentary valet parking will be available at the south entrance.

Current developments in the market

The event comes at a time when the US housing market is experiencing notable shifts. According to a recent report from Fortune, mortgage rates have shown signs of stabilization after months of fluctuation, with the average 30-year fixed rate hovering around 6.6%. In 2022, the Federal Reserve started aggressively raising the federal funds rate to curb inflation. Last year, the central bank began lowering its benchmark rate as inflation began to decline.

Recent reports indicate that home sales have slumped while prices continue to rise, reflecting persistent affordability challenges. Experts have discussed the housing market outlook throughout the year, particularly the impact of inflation, interest rates, and low housing supply.

As housing market trends remain a key concern for industry professionals and consumers alike, the AFR event aims to provide insights to help attendees navigate these evolving conditions.

Attendees are required to RSVP by April 4. For additional information, AFR representatives are available for inquiries.
