Cenlar FSB advances team with key promotions

Cenlar FSB, the nation's largest loan subservicer, has made five key promotions across various divisions.

Industry veteran William Benefield, former manager of default contact center, has been appointed the new director of the unit. In his new role, Benefield will assist with overseeing the default contact center and its employees in Cenlar's O'Fallon, Mo., location.

The company has also elevated Heather Barber to audit director, a role in which she will be responsible for advancing the assurance and validation program. Barber will also help enhance and support business operations, development of auditors, and work with senior-level management, as well as the office of the comptroller of the currency (OCC). Before being promoted, she served as lead and senior auditor.

"Cenlar is proud to promote these leaders across the organization who are all experts in their respective fields and deliver the very best service to our clients and their homeowners as well as lead and mentor our employees daily," said Cenlar chief talent officer Glen Vilim. "On behalf of the entire Cenlar team, I would like to congratulate all these exceptional leaders on their promotions and look forward to their continued success and contributions to the company."

The string of promotions comes on the heels of the appointment of former PHH Mortgage executive Rene Gonzales as its new chief technology officer. Cenlar said Gonzales would help the company tap technology to generate value and achieve its business objectives.

Apart from Benefield and Barber, the other three promoted leaders were:

  • Michael Mancino was promoted to director of quality assurance. Cenlar said Mancino is in charge of using the review of borrower contacts for quality metrics to further the company's collective efforts to increase overall efficiency. Before being promoted, Michael was a quality assurance manager, overseeing voice quality monitoring and related ancillary functions. He started his career at Cenlar 15 years ago in the treasury department, where he managed Cenlar's portfolio of non-agency mortgage-backed securities.
  • Nikesha McDaniel was promoted to director of compliance. McDaniel manages compliance testing and monitoring and the oversight of key risk indicators (KRIs) across Cenlar. Nikesha has been with Cenlar for 25 years, serving as a collections clerk in the beginning and later moved to portfolio transfers, then default project management, and now compliance risk.
  • Lauren Tabas was promoted to business control director. Tabas leads a team of 10 business control managers and analysts and spearheads the risk and control self-assessments for Cenlar. She brings more than 15 years of experience to the role and previously served as business control manager.
