Home prices hit record highs in April – report

Home prices hit record highs this year as U.S. properties continue on their appreciation trajectory.

Data and analytics firm Black Knight reported that home prices increased by 3.6% in April since the year started to an “all time high” of $275,000. The figure reflects a 1.2% increase from the previous month and 6% from the same period last year.

Seattle, Washington logged the highest increase rate, where property prices jumped 2.3%. Home prices there increased by a full 8.4% since the year started, according to Black Knight. Five of the top six urban centers with the highest home prices are located in Washington.

Tied with Seattle are Bellingham, also in Washington and Carson City in Nevada, which each also posted a growth of 2.3%

Walla Walla and Mount Vernon, also in Washington, both follow with a 2.1% increase. Spokane, which is also Washington, rounded off the top six with a 2% growth rate.
