Lenders bolster intermediary support through key hires

Two lenders – Principality Intermediaries and Pure Retirement – have announced personnel changes to strengthen support for brokers and advisers in their respective markets.
Principality Intermediaries has expanded its business development team to increase support for mortgage brokers in Wales and England.
Carly Scholes (pictured far left) has been appointed business development manager for the East of England, covering areas including Cambridge, Chelmsford, Ipswich, Luton, and Norwich. Scholes brings extensive experience in financial services and has previously worked with broker firms and building societies.
In addition to Scholes’ appointment, existing team members have seen their roles expanded. The area covered by Jo Silcox (pictured second from left) now extends from Newport to Hereford, while Cara Thompson (pictured second from right) will manage the South-West of England following the retirement of Alan Browning.
“I’m delighted to be joining Principality Intermediaries at such a pivotal and exciting time in the continued growth of the East of England territory, and I’m eager to help strengthen our presence as we expand across the UK,” Scholes said. “I look forward to working closely with brokers to build on Principality’s strong brand presence and offering to help make more possible for communities across the country.”
Meanwhile, lifetime mortgage lender Pure Retirement has restructured its originations team as part of ongoing efforts to improve outcomes for advisers and clients, with Gavin Hancock (pictured far right), formerly underwriting department manager, getting appointed head of initial loan originations.
Hancock, who has 25 years of experience in financial services, has played a key role in developing the lender’s Underwriting Promise, which ensures consistency by assigning one underwriter to each case through to completion. He has also promoted a phone-first culture between underwriters and advisers, encouraging proactive case management.
Beth Lawson succeeds Hancock as underwriting department manager. She has worked at Pure for eight years and brings a total of 14 years’ experience in the financial services sector.
“I’m excited to be leading the next chapter of our originations journey, having already successfully rolled out a range of enhancements and changes to our underwriting processes,” Hancock said. “We’ve got a team that’s committed to delivering best outcomes for advisers and consumers.”
