ONP Group shakes up approach to conveyancing with new leadership

Conveyancing firm ONP Group has pieced together a new leadership team that it believes challenges the norms of the industry.

The move is aligned with its goal of taking a fresh approach to the legal services and conveyancing businesses, and particularly to its partnership with brokers, managers, and lenders.

The team combines the expertise of industry veterans with the broad experiences of those whose careers have spanned technology, travel, and grocery.

ONP Group recruited Nick Hale (pictured) last year to lead the group as its CEO. Hale was previously the managing director of BT Group’s Ventures, the European managing director of Enjoy Technology, a director of KPMG, and a part of Accenture.

Since assuming the role of ONP Group CEO, Hale has put together a leadership team to steer the group towards its goal of becoming the leading, technology-enabled legal services business whose people transform the client experience for conveyancing of remortgages and sale transactions.

Chief operating officer Craig Underwood and group partnerships director Mark Tosetti joined Hale at the helm of ONP Group late last year.

“We believe there are better and smarter ways to carry out conveyancing by utilising the best and newest technology, while also working collaboratively to innovate and do things differently,” Hale said.

“Our aim is to ultimately improve the way that conveyancing is carried out across the industry. We now have a really strong executive team across the group, bringing together a mix of leaders from inside and outside the industry, who are all focused on achieving these aims and in turn, achieving growth. But this is not growth at any cost. This is manageable growth that will also deliver the very best service.”

Other members of the ONP Group Executive team include:

  • Toni Newcombe – chief people officer
  • James Argyle – chief finance officer
  • Andrew Taylor – chief technology officer
  • Waseem Haq – chief digital officer
  • Tom Cook – strategy director
  • Mark Snape – CEO, Conveyancing Alliance

The ONP Group comprises the Conveyancing Alliance, the O’Neill Patient Solicitors, Cavendish Legal Group, Grindeys, LMS, and LavaTech. It has offices around the UK and continues to grow its footprint across the country, starting with a new office in Leeds. The group’s approach to business centres on three pillars:

  • Innovative technology – including the automated Visualfiles configuration and InCase Client Experience – supports case managers in their work and helps deliver exceptional client service,
  • Brilliant people are trained to provide the best possible client experience in the conveyancing industry, and
  • A transformative attitude will eventually develop a culture focused on the customer journey as well as improving the conveyancing market as a whole.

“Our goal now is to continue [ONP Group’s] growth but to do it in a sustainable and manageable way that puts people at the heart of our operation,” Hale said. “By people, that means our colleagues and the partners we work with, including brokers, lenders and panel managers, and of course the end customer.”
