Lifetime mortgages roadshows from Standard Life Bank

The sessions are intended for advisers who are new to the equity release market, as well as those looking for more information on advising clients and their families.

The road shows, presented by specialists from Standard Life Bank and The Exchange, have been developed to address the concerns of consumers and financial advisers around equity release.

Stephen Fox, National Equity Release Manager, said he believes there is a critical role for financial advisers in the success of lifetime mortgages in the UK.

Mr Fox said: “We have developed these road shows following conversations with financial advisers who raised concerns and issues around equity release products.

“Standard Life Bank only sells lifetime mortgages through financial advisers. We believe it is critical that when considering a lifetime mortgage, consumers talk to their families, solicitors and advisers and ask them whether it is the best option for them to release the equity from their property.

“We also know it is essential that those considering equity release realise that retirement can now last for decades. These consumers need to plan their finances accordingly and have a product that can change with their circumstances. For many this will mean releasing relatively small amounts of money over time, rather than a larger lump sum. We believe advisers have a crucial part to play in educating consumers.

“These road shows are intended to provide a forum for information and debate so that financial advisers are confident in advising their clients on equity release.”
