Blend names new lending director

Development finance lender Blend has appointed property and finance expert David Mill (pictured) as lending director, further expanding its growing lending team.

Mill has over 30 years of banking experience, 25 of which were spent in supporting developers getting homes built through relationship-based residential development funding at both high street banks, and more recently, specialist finance providers.

The addition of Mill, who joins from Hampshire Trust Bank and will be based in the firm’s London head office, is expected to strengthen the lender’s support for mid-sized UK property developers and the building of long-term relationships with its customer base.

Mill’s appointment follows Blend’s recruitment of several high-profile property and finance experts to lead its nationwide development lending efforts. Last year, David Alcock joined as managing director while Claire McGirr joined as head of portfolio management, both coming from Hampshire Trust Bank too.

“We are incredibly pleased to welcome David to Blend and believe he will bring a wealth of experience to our lending team,” Alcock commented. “He has an impressive track record working for over 30 years within the development finance market, with some of the most prestigious firms in the sector.

“Blend was built to be home for incredibly talented and skilled property and finance professionals. I look forward to working with David to further strengthen BLEND’s focus on building long term relationships.”

Commenting on his appointment, Mill said he, too, was excited to join Alcock and the team at Blend.

“They have built a team with world class experienced people, technology infrastructure, and flexible funding, but more importantly, we have a shared belief in the importance of structuring funding that’s fit for purpose and that suits the specific needs of property projects for developers across the UK,” he added. “I am excited about the opportunities in front of us, including our timing, and cannot wait to get started.”

Over the past few months, Blend has also welcomed a team of senior bankers and credit specialists to its lending team. Chris Mason joined last March as lending director, based in Cambridgeshire, Philip Anderson joined in May as lending manager, based in Belfast, Chris Hope joined in June as senior portfolio asset manager, based in London, and Duncan Armstrong joined last October as portfolio asset manager.
