RedZed launches free commercial lending course for brokers

Self-employed lending specialist adds six-module course to its broker academy

RedZed launches free commercial lending course for brokers

Self-employed lending specialist RedZed has launched a free commercial lending course for brokers, expanding its Self-Employed Broker Academy as it pushes more of the broker channel to diversify beyond residential home loans.

The course, Introduction to Commercial Lending, is free to all RedZed-accredited brokers through the lender’s broker portal, Introducer Connect.

Completing it earns six continuing professional development (CPD) hours, recognised by the Mortgage & Finance Association of Australia (MFAA) and the Finance Brokers Association of Australia (FBAA).

MFAA members are required to complete 30 CPD hours per membership renewal year, under the MFAA’s continuing professional development guidelines for members.

The six video modules cover:

  • What can I use commercial loans for?

  • Making the move from residential to commercial lending

  • The role of the broker

  • Today's commercial borrower

  • How do you choose a lender?

  • How do I submit a commercial loan?

It is the fourth course in RedZed’s digital Self-Employed Broker Academy for brokers, which drew strong early take-up among accredited brokers.

Emma Yang (pictured, right), head of commercial at RedZed, said many brokers had held back from the segment.

She said: “Commercial lending presents a significant growth opportunity for brokers, yet many have not had the training or confidence to expand beyond residential lending.

"Through this course, we want to enhance the knowledge and capabilities of brokers already working in the commercial space, while also empowering those who are looking to diversify into commercial lending for the first time.”

Nathan Taddeo (pictured, left), RedZed’s general manager of sales and strategic partnerships, said the course would help brokers “have more meaningful conversations with self-employed clients”.

"At RedZed, we're committed to helping brokers build the specialist skills needed to confidently support self-employed borrowers throughout every stage of their financial journey,” added Taddeo.
