World Cup balls-up: trespasser identified as mortgage broker

Joseph appeared in court in South Africa charged with trespassing after police managed to trace him back to his hotel in Camps Bay, Cape Town using CCTV footage.

He has been remanded on bail until this morning and banned from going to any World Cup matches before his trial is heard and a ruling made. His family still intends to watch the England Slovenia game on Wednesday after they refused to give up their tickets to South African police.

The shock break-in caused a major ruckus as Joseph, who claims he was looking for a toilet when he unexpectedly stumbled into the England team’s changing rooms, took the opportunity to tell the team exactly what he thought of them.

Speaking to the Sunday Mirror, the broker reportedly said to Beckham: 'David we have spent a lot of money coming out here, that was a disgrace and what are you going to do about it?'

The England star, out of the World Cup due to injury, has played down the event, though Fifa officials have consequently boosted security at all remaining World Cup games to avoid a repeat performance.

Vince Sammon, director of another London based mortgage adviser Sammon Mortgage Management, said to Mortgage Introducer this morning: “It couldn’t have been a bin man could it? It had to be a mortgage broker. Typical.”
