War of words begins for football match of the year

Taking up the challenge of captaining the four teams are trade magazines from the mortgage industry. With relatively unknown levels of footballing talent can they lead their teams to victory?

Taking up the helm of the teams are:

BM Solutions team captain Alex Hammond, Mortgage Edge

Mortgage Express team captain Robyn Hall, Mortgage Strategy

Shelter team captain Rob Griffiths, Mortgage Introducer

Broker team captain Ben Marquand, Mortgage Solutions

Commenting on the forthcoming tournament, the captains all had plenty to say!

Alex Hammond, Mortgage Edge "A lot of people have compared me to Diego Maradona, as he is now, but being a bit lardy doesn't impair a footballing brain and, frankly, I can't see us getting beat. I hear that Robyn Hall is good at pulling off defenders but I don't see much else in the opposition. I'm not a betting man but, if I was, I'd stick a fiver on Motivator in the

Derby. Dead cert apparently."

Robyn Hall, Mortgage Strategy "After my dazzling display at Molineux last year, where I was responsible for securing at least two goals against BM Solutions, I couldn't resist the opportunity to sock it to them again. Steven Gerrard's days are numbered."

Rob Griffiths, Mortgage Introducer "As a Welshman used to chasing funny shaped balls I may have to rely on my Shelter team mates' all round skill. But it is imperative we do not leek any sloppy goals. I have often noted our opponents' dribbling skills, though this has been limited to the bar. Let's see how they fare on the pitch. Jumpers for goal posts, Giggsy wigsy down the wing, isn't it marvellous......... "

Ben Marquand, Mortgage Solutions "The tide is now very much in our court and as I see it we have three options - we could win or we could lose. But against opposition of this calibre we'll have to be at our best both technically, tactically and spiritwise. As the clear favourites we know what is around the corner, even if we don't know where the corner is, so the onus is now on us to perform and we must control the bandwagon. At the end of the day though we'll all have to stop talking balls and go out and kick some real ones."
