Uinsure sends BDM to the moon

Uinsure has sent business development manager Geoff Dignan to the moon and back to mark the 50th anniversary of the lunar landings.

Geoff and his partner Becky were expecting their third baby to arrive on 19 July, the 50th anniversary of the moon landing but Tilly May was born on 8 July instead.

Dad Geoff went to Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre to send a family’s message to the Tilly May, bouncing it to the moon and back.

He said in the message: “Welcome to the world Tilly May. Lots of love from Freya and George and mummy and daddy, and you’re the cutest baby ever.”

David Smith, chief innovation officer at Uinsure, said: “Geoff is always wanting to push the boundaries of his territory and during our 2020 planning has now claimed the moon postcodes. I’m not sure how much business there is to do up there, but he’s claimed it now.

“We believe Geoff is the very first UK financial services employee to have travelled to the moon and back, and who knows, one day we may very well be providing GI cover to residents of the Moon.

“It’s one small step for Uinsure but one giant leap for GI.”

Simon Taylor, chief executive officer at Uinsure added: “We are always looking at ways to expand and innovate and this move demonstrates our desire to always move forward and try new things.

“Although we have had to remind Geoff that mileage claims don’t include space travel under revenue rules, it is a real delight for Geoff, Becky, Freya, George & Tilly May to experience and share in such a memorable event in human history.”
