Top attendance at Manchester Expo

A general feeling of solidarity and business as usual prevailed as more than 130 exhibiting companies answered intermediaries’ questions and updated old and new contacts on their products.

The Manchester Expo featured two seminar theatres with programmes on products and better business organised by the Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) and the Association of Mortgage Intermediaries (AMI) respectively.

AMI director Chris Cummings, said: “It has a been a very successful show. The intermediaries who have come have been spoilt for choice in the range and quality of the seminars. As I said at the opening of the show, as an industry we need to look at training and development as a business investment rather than a cost. Anyone who has come to the show with that attitude over the past two days will have seen an excellent return on that investment.”

CML Director General Michael Coogan, said: “The seminar theatres were very lively with a full and engaged audience. The speakers showed there are a number of areas intermediaries can look at to build on their business in the next year.” Coogan added: “After four years, Mortgage Business Expo continues to go from strength to strength.”

Show director Andy White said: “Mortgage Business expo exists to allow people to network and to provide opportunities to update their industry knowledge. From the feedback we have had, many of our visitors have taken full advantage of that and I’m glad to say the overall atmosphere of the show has been positive and productive.”

Exhibitor Richard Walker national sales manager of First Active, said: “There’s been a good turnout and the show has been well organised. The feedback from brokers is that the seminars have been really beneficial. Once again, it is a credit to the team that have put the event on.”

Alison Beech, sales and marketing director at Rooftop Mortgages, sponsors of the Mortgage Business expo, said: “We are extremely pleased to have been associated with the show. Despite some challenging times over the past six months, our industry continues to show that it is efficiently run and extremely resilient. We are delighted that so many visitors and exhibitors have found they got value from their time here.”

Lisa Joliffe, PR executive for Preferred mortgages, sponsors of the expo seminar theatres, said: “We are very pleased to have sponsored the seminar theatres for the second time. We have found the quality and interest of the attendees this year to be excellent; it has proven to be a good platform for launching our new 2 year fixed rates, and for meeting new customers and networking with existing intermediaries.”

Mortgage Business Expo London will take place on 16 and 17 November at London’s Earls Court.
