Tech expert Spencer Wyer joins CLSQ

Property insights firm CLSQ has announced the appointment of Spencer Wyer as the group’s strategic development director, accelerating the development of CLSQ’s property data and data-led insurance products.

Wyer’s appointment comes as CLSQ attempts to redefine its business and product strategy whole continuing its growth in the financial services, insurance, and legal sectors in the UK.

“I’m really excited to be joining CLSQ to continue the digitisation of the mortgage technology journey that I’ve been working on since 2015,” said Wyer (pictured).

“The incredible power of CLSQ’s data, products, and services, the agility to bring new and innovative products to market with the unique breadth and experience within the group, will enable CLSQ to play a pivotal role in the next level of automation of mortgage processing and buying/selling property.”

Wyer was previously the chief technology officer at the EDM Group. He led the organisation’s entry into the digital mortgage sector and worked closely with major lenders to invent a property risk automation platform.

In December 2020, following the acquisition of EDM Group’s mortgage decision automation team by Zoopla’s Hometrack, Wyer integrated the two organisations’ businesses and teams and became vice president of product and technology for Hometrack, where he was charged with the responsibility of defining the business’ property risk and valuation product strategy.

It was also during his stint as vice president for product and technology that he first began to work with CLSQ, forging its relationship with Hometrack.

“What’s also great is that I already know the CLSQ team well, having worked with them as a partner of Zoopla and Hometrack,” Wyer said. “It’s not often you get to make a brilliant move in the same industry already knowing the people you are going to work with and still having contact with my ex-colleagues at Hometrack and Zoopla via the partnership.”

CLSQ founder Tom Plews commented: “We’re delighted that Spencer is joining the CLSQ community. He has a wealth of experience, including working with CLSQ, and will play an important role in helping us to prioritise and build on our current success.

“The addition of his strategic prowess will help to accelerate the adoption of our extensive, cutting-edge property data and data-led insurance products and services. Our primary aim remains to empower our partners and customers and bring efficiency and certainty to the financial services, insurance and future sectors.”

CLSQ empowers lenders, surveyors, and insurers to streamline their decisions with a single API integration that grants businesses access to market-leading property insight, supported by CLSQ’s unique insurance and data suites. It provides access to more than 800 datasets across 28 million UK properties.
