Teachers chief exec elected to BSA council

The BSA council manages the business of the trade association which represents mutual lenders and deposit takers in the UK including all 47 building societies.

Bawa will represent all of the building societies in the metropolitan region on the council which covers the whole of the South and East of England.

Bawa said: “These continue to be challenging times for consumers and financial services organisations with household budgets under pressure and the economy still in recovery after the financial crisis.

“I believe that building societies and other mutuals have a crucial role to play in the provision of fair financial products alongside a high level of customer service and I’m honoured to be taking a seat on the BSA council.”
