Tablet takes away pain of valuations

The solution is available to all surveyors using its Valuation Exchange platform following a four week pilot amongst five major surveying firms.

The tablet PC uses a wireless internet connection to access xit2’s Valuation Exchange. This means that surveyors can undertake a valuation on a property, make an assessment and submit a report – without leaving the property in question.

It also enables surveyors to pick up new valuation instructions at any time, in any location. For example, a surveyor could complete a valuation in one street and then pick up an instruction immediately for a valuation in the next street. Surveyors no longer need to return to the office after every valuation, resulting in better time management and potentially lower overheads.

Mike Carpenter, managing partner of Hawkins Carpenter, comments:

“Mobile technology has the propensity to make a massive impact in the surveying industry, especially with the forthcoming introduction of Home Information Packs. As such, the efficiency and productivity gains derived through the use of xit2’s tablet PC solution will be difficult to ignore. As with any new technology, it takes time for widespread adoption to occur, but those surveyors who dismiss the benefit of tablet PCs without at least trialling them, will struggle to keep pace with the evolution of the industry.”

Paul Duckworth, managing director of xit2, comments:

“There are so many instances of new technology being implemented for new technology’s sake, it’s exciting to be involved in a project where technology can create tangible business benefits. Our trials have shown that the tablet PC can encourage better time management, boost productivity and induce a better work / life balance for surveyors.”
