Spot the pattern in today's economic report?

Hidden in the Bank of England Financial Stability Report out today is a chart that shows the previous instances in recent history when bank shares have taken a battering (fallen by more than 10%).

1987 - Black Monday

1994 - US Interest rate hike

2001 - Terrorist attacks

2008 - Credit Crunch

So I would suggest that if you are going to buy bank shares you seriously think about selling them in 2014.

You have been warned!

ps Yes 1973 is represented with the oil crisis, but I don't know why nothing went wrong in 1980, perhaps someone has an explanation.
