Scottish Provident launches quick reference critical illness definitions pack

The guide includes a timeline of the changes to Scottish Provident’s Critical Illness definitions through the ages, starting in 1996 when Scottish Provident launched SELF ASSURANCE.

As well as highlighting dates that changes were made, such as the introduction of a new definition of Alzheimer’s in July 2001 or the introduction of the new cancer definition in December 2002, the guide has an extensive alphabetical list of definitions and a section devoted to children’s critical illness cover.

Sue Wilkinson, Head of Life and Health Propositions, Abbey for Intermediaries said:

“Our guide will be an invaluable reference point for intermediaries as it shows how definitions have been improved in recent years as the market has grown more mature.

“Regulation means that now, more than ever, intermediaries need to know and understand the pedigree of the CI policies that they are recommending to their clients. Often the sheer number of brochures and materials that providers produce mean that information can be overlooked or lost. Our guide brings everything into one handy ring binder that can be updated as our products and definitions change. Now IFAs can feel confident that they have the most up to date information at their fingertips.”
