Regulator to speak at MI forums

The forums, held in association with Mortgage Times, will seek to highlight the future implications for the market and how brokers can maintain confidence with lenders, and the non-conforming market as a whole.

Richard Lawes, a member of the FSA Financial Promotions, retail themes team, who will be speaking at the event, said: “Non-conforming lending and its distribution is clearly very high profile at present. I’m looking forward to hearing industry views and concerns, but also to getting across some clear messages as to how these products should be sold, and in particular, marketed.”

Lawes will also be answering broker questions as part of the panel session.

Bill Dudgeon, managing director at db mortgages, admitted that the forums had come at a perfect time. “With all the turmoil in the non-conforming market over the last month, these roadshows provide an excellent opportunity for brokers to talk to the lenders themselves about the changes that have been made, and what product offerings we are likely to see in the future.”

John Wright, senior manager, partner division at GMAC-RFC, added: “These forums are a great place to find out what lenders are doing to support intermediaries.”

The forums are sponsored by db mortgages, and supported by Kensington Mortgages, Goldsmith Williams and GMAC-RFC. They will hit Manchester on 2 October and London on 17 October.
