Promise raises £59k for sick kids

Some 400 people from across the UK were hosted by charity patrons Suzi Perry and Steve Bull MBE with entertainment from superstar Beverley Knight, 80s diva Jackie Graham and the unique Trevor T.

Steve Walker, a founding trustee of the charity and managing director of Promise Solutions, said “The evening was a fantastic success thanks to the hard work of the charity team, supporters and of course the generous guests who bid in the auction and contributed in other ways. The money we raised will take us close to £2million raised since the charity started in 2001 and should give us enough to support the dreams of our 1000th child.

“As a consequence of the current economy, the charity struggles to raise enough money to quickly help all the families which apply for dreams. Often, due to the conditions of these poorly children, time is against us and we desperately need more help to make sure we have funds available to give instant assistance. We have experienced many sad occasions where children pass away just before we are able to deliver their dream which is devastating for the family who often rely on that special treat to give them some lasting happy memories.

"Promise Dreams helps children and families across the whole country and we would be grateful for any support which might come from the finance sector. This can be done tax efficiently through give as you earn schemes or individuals can organise events and raise money to help us. I encourage people to visit our website, watch our online video to see how we help families. Sometimes it costs a lot to grant our dreams, sometimes we make special things happen which just require creativity and effort.”

As well as providing treatment, help and support for seriously ill children and their families, the charity also helps grant sick children a dream, be it anything from a holiday, to medical equipment or meeting a celebrity.
