ProConveyancing opens apprenticeship academy

It aims to address industry's recruitment problems

ProConveyancing opens apprenticeship academy

An online residential conveyancing firm, ProConveyancing, has opened an apprenticeship academy in Wirral, Merseyside.

The academy, officially opened by the mayor and mayoress of Wirral, aims to create 150 new conveyancing jobs over the next five years by offering apprenticeships to school leavers and other job seekers interested in developing a career in conveyancing and property law.

The ProConveyancing Academy will see apprentices working under the supervision of its head of legal practice, Hayley Hellon, and trained as property law professionals equipped for a career in an important industry with excellent job prospects.

Those currently working in a paralegal capacity in conveyancing will also be able to study as part of the ProConveyancing Academy, becoming CLC accredited, licensed conveyancers.

ProConveyancing said the conveyancing industry has been facing recruitment and retention challenges for a number of years, brought into sharp relief during last year’s stamp duty holiday, which created an enormous caseload backlog across the industry.

Aside from the apprenticeship academy, the conveyancing firm is also opening new headquarters in Wirral.

“We’re delighted to be expanding and setting up a physical base in Wirral. This location gives us the ability to grow operations in the area, taking on many more employees and starting an apprenticeship scheme that will see scores of school leavers educated in property law in the next five years and beyond,” Gary Roy Markham, managing director at ProConveyancing, said.

Founded in 2021 as a fully online residential conveyancing firm, ProConveyancing has grown rapidly due to its digitization and automation of traditional conveyancing process, including innovations such as the ProConveyancing mobile app that enables clients to view and manage their cases from their smartphones.
