Six bids are thought to be on the table to buy the cash-strapped League One outfit.
Bids from Balram Chainrai and Levi Kushnir’s Portpin as well as the Pompey Supporters’ Trust are thought to have the most merit. Former owner Sulaiman Al Fahim and ex-Watford owner Laurence Bassini are thought to be outside contenders and an unnamed consortium entered the fray last week.
However the Portco bid, which involves Pritchard, is thought to be gathering ground.
Portco is fronted by Scottish-born Harry Kerr, a Hibernian and Arsenal fan who owns an investment firm called Avalon.
Pritchard has been following the Blues since he was four and was involved in a takeover bid the last time Pompey was in administration.
He told Mortgage Introducer: “I have spent time with the group wanting to take over at Portsmouth and they have some big plans and the cash and skills to achieve great things again.
“Let's hope the administrator gives them the chance as I think they are the only real option.
“The supporters trust have good intentions but realistically they do not have the money behind them to do the deal at the moment.
“However, the consortium would be prepared to work with them on a long term strategy for the good of the club.”
