Principality Building Society announces new chair

Principality Building Society has announced the addition of Simon Moore (pictured) to its board, joining as a non-executive director and chair, pending regulatory approval.

Moore brings a wealth of experience to his new role. With a background in the military, he has previously held positions at Lloyds Banking Group, Chase Manhattan, ABN Amro, and Barclays Bank.

He also served as the managing director for Barclays Commercial Wales and the South West. He has also served as the chair of another mutual organisation, LV=, and held positions on various other boards.

Moore, as chair, will succeed Sally Jones-Evans, who has been at the helm since April 2021 and a board member since February 2015.

“It has been a privilege to serve as chair for the past three years, and as a board member for the past nine,” Jones-Evans stated. “Everything we do has our members’ financial wellbeing in mind, and it has been a pleasure to see the society help so many of them. I wish to thank all members and colleagues and wish you all well as Principality begins its next chapter.”

Commenting on his appointment, Moore said he was honoured to take on the role of board chair-elect at Principality.

“Under Sally’s leadership, Principality is thriving, and I am looking forward to building on that legacy,” he added. “Together with the dedicated board of directors and the whole team at Principality, we will continue to deliver value and service to our members.”
