PISCES signs 100th member

TLT Solicitors is the latest law firm to be involved in the number of organisations using this method of data transfer. It joins Battens Property Law (bpl) who has been a member of PISCES for the last two years, participating in both the Residential and Lenders Conveyancing Workgroups.

TLT Solicitors will join a number of legal sector members to help develop this electronic data transfer standard. Other members who have joined recently are:

- Halifax plc and Nationwide Building Society, who have both joined as Executive Members to lend their considerable influence to develop the standard for transfer of data between mortgage lenders and conveyancers.

- DPS Software, London & European Title Insurance, London Mortgage Company, Newcastle Building Society, Simply Conveyancing, Skipton Building Society, Stewart Title and Visualfiles, who have all joined as Associate Members.

Roger de Boehmler comments: 'This expansion of our membership is fundamental to ensure that our industry gets the e-commerce standard that it needs. PISCES is recognised as the only independent organisation that has both the technical lead and robust business approach to develop standards for the real estate sector.

'We intend to deliver the XML schema that will be needed to meet the government’s

timetable for e-conveyancing and for future web service applications. PISCES is a not-for-profit organisation that needs industry support to be able to fund its operations at this phenomenally busy time. One hundred PISCES member organisations is a significant milestone. We hope that others who recognise the obvious business case for an industry standard will follow the lead of these pioneers.’

Richard Waller, Head of TLT's Banking & Lender Services Group which provides legal

services to some of the industry's largest lenders said:"It was an obvious decision to get involved with this important technology standard which helps our service delivery to clients. As we act for some of the industry's largest lenders, it was key to be onboard."

Angela Thompson, Business Development Director of Battens Property Law (bpl) says: “I welcome TLT’s involvement and the contribution they will make to the development of the standard. However, it is important that all participants in the property field, not only legal practices, consider membership. There needs to be a broad section of the property industry to consider the work undertaken by the workgroups and comment upon it, so that the standard reflects a range of opinion and the needs of the real world “
