PFS appoints president

Current PFS president Brian Steeples will complete his term of office following the Society’s annual general meeting being held on 1 November, prior to the start of the PFS conference.

A member of the PFS Board since its inception in January 2005, Carole Nicholls is currently a PFS Vice President. Carole runs her own Independent Financial Advisers (IFA) practice – Nicholls Stevens Financial Services – which is based in Bristol and has a client base around the UK. She employs 12 staff: advisers and administrators specialising in pension scheme work and financial planning advice on a fee basis.

Increasing the levels of professionalism is a key aspect of Carole’s plans for her year in office. “The PFS under Brian’s excellent leadership has made a fantastic start,” commented Carole. “My theme for the year is that ‘actions speak louder than words’ and I want to see hard evidence of professionalism taking deep root.

“This is not just the preserve of those of us with Chartered status; I believe that PFS membership must be seen as an essential part of a career for every financial adviser. The PFS exists to support advisers at all levels; together we can make a positive difference to the market as a whole and improve our image in the eyes of the consumer.”

Meeting members from around the country figures strongly in Carole’s plans. “It’s vital that I talk to members on their home turf, not only to tell them what the PFS is doing, but also I want to get their feedback and suggestions for they would like to see the PFS deliver in the future.”

Robert Reid ACII, APFS, Chartered Financial Planner who runs his own IFA practice Syndaxi Financial Planning and Peter Williams FCII, APFS Chartered Financial Planner, head of industry development at AEGON UK have been elected as PFS Vice Presidents for the 2006/7 year.
