Personal Finance Society appoints vice presidents

Carole Nicholls FPFS of Nicholls Stevens Financial Services and Robert Reid APFS of Syndaxi Financial Planning will support president Brian Steeples in communicating the Personal Finance Society message to members and will represent members’ interests in the development of policy and services – acting as conduits for member feedback.

Nicholls and Reid are both stalwarts of the financial services sector and successful financial advisers in their own right.

Nicholls established her own directly authorised IFA business, Nicholls Stevens Financial Services, in Bristol in 1986, prior to which she was managing director of Richards Longstaff Life and Pensions. She employs 10 advisers and administrators specialising in pension scheme work and financial planning advice on a fee basis.

She wrote the original training manuals for FPC2 and G20 and does a considerable amount of training work for FPC and AFPC examinations, including teaching these subjects at a Local Authority College.

Reid entered the financial services sector in 1976. He has been an IFA since 1985 for both provincial and national operations. His current IFA practice, Syndaxi Financial Planning, is based in the heart of the City in London.

A past chairman of the Society of Financial Advisers, he is the author of the first G60 syllabus, the definitive exam for those advising on pensions transfers, as well as editor of the first G60 Case Studies workbook. Among the many positions he has held is chairman of the Practitioners Advice Committee – European Financial Planning Association.

Speaking about the appointments president Brian Steeples said: “Both Carole and Robert are more than capable of meeting the challenges these roles present. They run their own businesses so are acutely aware of the issues facing financial advisers and as such are best placed to help me in my role of representing members’ interests. I am delighted they have taken on these roles and am looking forward to working more closely with them.”
