Paradigm and AEGON launch business protection workshops

The workshops have been split into two parts and have been specially designed for Paradigm advisers to build confidence and develop their own proposition in the Business Protection market. The two-week gap between each workshop provides advisers with the time to think about the opportunities in the market and/or use the tools from workshop 1, before discussing real-life case studies in workshop 2.

At the end of the whole workshop attendees will have completed or been provided with:

• A quality toolkit covering all the technical issues advisers may come across.

• Client-facing sales tools, allowing advisers to open the conversation in a way that should lead to business.

• An understanding of the compliance process for Business Protection.

• Time to work through a case study.

• A number of sales ideas.

• Ideas on how to segment clients to target the correct ones.

• How to get Business Protection policies on risk as efficiently as possible.

The half-day, morning workshops take place in three cities – Birmingham, London and Manchester – throughout June as follows.

• Birmingham – Paradigm office; workshop 1 on 9th June; workshop 2 on 24th June.

• London – AEGON office; workshop 1 on 11th June; workshop 2 on 22nd June.

• Manchester – Paradigm office; workshop 1 on 16th June; workshop 2 on 30th June.

There are limited places available at all venues and those interested are encouraged to book their place quickly. For full details on venues, times and how to register, Paradigm members should visit the website at: www.paradigmmortgages.com/aegon_workshops.html

Bob Hunt, Chief Executive of Paradigm Mortgage Services, commented: “Business Protection is a potentially lucrative market for advisers and we therefore wanted to equip those Paradigm members less familiar with this market with all the tools and know-how to get the most out of their time and investment. We’ve teamed up with AEGON to offer these two-part workshops throughout June which provide tangible advice and support to help advisers learn the skills and importantly to understand their responsibilities in offering Business Protection advice. The workshops are suitable for all - advisers who attend may have little or no knowledge of the sector or they may just be rusty about the business protection market. Others may be looking for further opportunities and are willing to review their client bank for prospects. The workshops are also suitable for new registered individuals or trainee advisers. With many business owners unprepared and unprotected for the unforeseen circumstances which may affect their firms, advisers can use the skills and knowledge gained from these workshops to deliver peace of mind to their client base. We would urge all who are interested in attending to register that interest as soon as possible.”

Andy Walton, National Account Manager at AEGON, said: “We’re pleased to be working in partnership with Paradigm Mortgage Services to educate advisers on the opportunities available in the business protection market. Mortgage advisers are likely to be looking for new income streams in the current financial climate to help boost their business - and business protection could be just the opportunity they’re looking for. It’s not as complicated as you might think and advisers may well have existing clients who’d benefit from business protection. As a leading provider of business protection solutions, we’ve many years experience in this market. Advisers who come along to our two-part workshops will benefit from tools and support to help them break into this lucrative market and give them the confidence to start talking about business protection with their clients.”
