Paperwork riles brokers the most

Interestingly, the research also highlighted that 35 per cent of brokers praise their career choice enough to encourage their kids to follow in their financial footsteps.

Also thrown up by the research was that most brokers drive a BMW or a Toyota, and over half holidayed in continental Europe this year.

If the brokers surveyed were not doing what they do then most believe they would still be in the property industry, but instead as an estate agent. Others believed they would be professional landlords, diving instructors or police officers.

"If lenders want to provide brokers with the very highest levels of service, we need to understand what being a broker in today's market is all about," said Phil Rickards, head of sales at BM Solutions who commissioned the research.

"This gives us insight into their working hours, how they run their business, where their business comes from and their views on a changing market. Listening to brokers is the most valuable tool that we have in improving our service."
