OSB Group to mark first year of employee engagement networks

Specialist lender OSB Group has announced that it is marking the first anniversary of its employee engagement networks on the National Day for Staff Networks tomorrow, May 8.

The internal networks — Our Community, Our Planet, and Our Diversity — comprise 74 employees dedicated to advancing the company’s environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles. These groups play a pivotal role in shaping and implementing initiatives aimed at enhancing employee involvement in ESG activities.

The Our Community network is focused on boosting employee participation in the company’s two annual volunteering days and promoting funding opportunities for staff to support local charities and community groups.

Meanwhile, the Our Planet team is raising awareness about personal and professional practices that contribute to environmental sustainability. They are also preparing for an event dubbed ‘Second-hand September’ to encourage recycling and the use of second-hand goods among employees.

The Our Diversity network is committed to creating an inclusive workplace where all employees feel valued and empowered.

The National Day for Staff Networks is the only day globally dedicated to celebrating the significant contributions of workplace networks or resource groups. It aims to highlight their benefits to organisations.

“Being a part of the Our Planet community has been a real eye opener as we have been learning about how much we as an employee in the business and as a person outside of work are impacting our carbon footprint,” said Victoria Tipper, senior test analyst at OSB Group.

“We have been using this information to inspire our colleagues to take small steps to make more eco-friendly changes in their work and home life. I am really excited about the upcoming event we have created this year named ‘Second-hand September’ where we will be encouraging colleagues to recycle and try and buy second hand where they can. This all helps with our business ESG goal of being operationally Net Zero by 2030.”

Neil Richardson (pictured), chief sustainability officer at OSB Group, added that these employee engagement networks provide a collaborative approach to make sure the environments where we work and operate are inclusive, respectful of the environment and supports local communities.

“This also demonstrates further development by the group in embedding the importance of ESG in everything we do and brings our colleagues into the heart of the activities that will make a real difference,” Richardson said. “I am really looking forward to seeing what achievements the networks make throughout 2024.”
