N&P appoints director

David is currently general manager, business services, with the society. The promotion follows the retirement of Martyn Willgress (operations director) on 31 July 2006.

In his new role, David will join the society’s board of directors, which currently consists of four executive directors and six non-executive directors under the leadership of chairman, Keith Bedell-Pearce.

David will be responsible for the operations of the society, including information technology and administration for mortgages, banking and investments. In addition, he will retain his existing responsibility for commercial lending and lending through intermediaries. He will also become chairman of the subsidiary Lynchwood Services, which provides IT software to other building societies and lending institutions.

Commenting on his appointment, David said: “Norwich & Peterborough is a highly innovative building society with a great reputation for service. I am looking forward to this tremendous opportunity to join the Board and contributing to the Society’s ongoing success.”

David joined N&P as regional commercial lending manager from Barclays Bank in 1990 and was promoted to head of commercial lending in 1991. In 1998 he was promoted to general manager and since then has had a number of roles which has included responsibility for Banking, Mortgage Administration, Mortgage Recoveries, Investments, the Society’s Call Centre, Internet Services, Personal Loans and Intermediary Lending. He has also been sales and marketing director for Lynchwood Services.
