Wendy Evans-Scott has been appointed as president of the NAEA, taking over the role from Michael Jones, who has served in the position for the past year.
Wendy is an accomplished property specialist with more than 25 years’ experience. She began her career in estate agency in 1985, becoming a branch manager within two years. She now heads her own independent property consultancy based in Dorking, Surrey. Wendy joined the NAEA in 1988 and has held a number of roles within the association.
Commenting on her appointment, Wendy said “I am delighted to be representing the association and its members at such a prestigious level. My focus for this year is primarily to increase the public’s awareness of what the NAEA does to promote professional estate agency and encourage more agents to join the organisation.”
Taking the presidency at The Association of Residential Letting Agents (ARLA) is Tim Hyatt, replacing the outgoing Susan Hughes-Thomas.
A longstanding member of the organisation, Tim began his property career in 1991. Today, he is head of lettings at Knight Frank.
Tim said: “I’ve been involved with ARLA for many years now and to be able to lead such an influential organisation in driving up standards within the lettings industry is really a great honour for me.
“Pushing the need for compulsory licensing of the rental sector is something I feel very strongly about and I will work hard to encourage members to share their industry-leading market knowledge with one another as we aim to meet the challenges of a rapidly expanding Private Rented Sector.”
Peter Bolton King, chief executive of the NAEA and ARLA, said: “I am delighted to welcome both Tim and Wendy as our new presidents. With more than 40 years’ experience across the property industry, I feel both can push ARLA and the NAEA forward in driving up professional standards within the UK housing and rental markets.”
Other appointments include Derek Bruce as chairman of the Institution of Commercial & Business Agents and Guy Charrison as chair of the National Association of Valuers and Auctioneers.
